About Ras Al Khor

Industrial district hosting Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and bordering MBR City.

Ras Al Khor is a district on the southern end of Dubai Creek, combining light industrial zones, warehousing, and a growing residential fringe. It is best recognised internationally for hosting a protected flamingo sanctuary inside the city limits.

Location & connectivity

Ras Al Khor sits at the junction of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Al Ain Road (E66), giving it direct access to most of Dubai. DIFC is roughly a 15-min drive; Dubai International Airport is around 20 mins. The Dubai Metro does not currently serve Ras Al Khor directly — bus routes and private transport are the primary options.

Property mix

Residential stock in Ras Al Khor is concentrated in the Ras Al Khor Industrial Area fringe and the newer Sobha Hartland development on its border. Options are limited compared to neighbouring districts.

  • Apartments: Sobha Creek Vistas (Sobha Hartland border), scattered low-rise residential buildings
  • Villas: Limited standalone villa plots in older residential pockets
  • Land: Industrial and commercial land plots available for purchase or lease

Schools

No major schools sit inside Ras Al Khor's core. Nearby options include:

  • Deira International School — approx. 10-min drive, IB curriculum
  • Swiss International Scientific School — approx. 12-min drive, IB/Swiss curriculum
  • Rashid School for Boys — approx. 15-min drive, UK curriculum

Healthcare

No major hospitals are located within Ras Al Khor itself. The nearest facilities include:

  • Mediclinic City Hospital, Dubai Healthcare City — approx. 15-min drive
  • Rashid Hospital, Umm Hurair — approx. 12-min drive
  • Aster Clinic, Al Qusais — approx. 15-min drive

Shopping & dining

Day-to-day retail is limited within Ras Al Khor itself. Festival City Mall and IKEA are roughly a 10-min drive and cover most retail and dining needs. Residents also use Mirdif City Centre, around 15 mins away, for a broader mix of supermarkets and F&B.

Parks & leisure

The Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is the area's defining leisure asset — a protected wetland reserve where flamingos and other migratory birds can be observed from public hides at no charge. Beyond the sanctuary, dedicated parks and entertainment venues are sparse inside the district itself. Dubai Creek Park and Al Jaddaf waterfront are each around 10–15 mins away by car.

Nearby areas

  • Al Jaddaf
  • Dubai Healthcare City
  • Meydan
  • Business Bay
  • Al Quoz

Things to consider

Ras Al Khor's industrial character means traffic around warehouse and logistics zones can be heavy during business hours, and the area lacks the retail and leisure infrastructure of more established residential communities. Buyers seeking a quiet, self-contained neighbourhood should weigh the limited walkability and reliance on a car for most daily needs.
