About Dubai Media City
Media free zone next to Internet City with mid-rise apartments and creative industry workers.
Dubai Media City (DMC) is a free-zone commercial district and the headquarters for hundreds of regional and international media, advertising, and tech companies. It sits on the western edge of New Dubai, adjacent to Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah, and functions primarily as a place of work — though residential towers have steadily added a live-work population.
Location & connectivity
DMC sits directly off Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and Al Sufouh Road, placing it roughly 25–30 minutes from Downtown Dubai and 15 minutes from Dubai International Airport in light traffic. The Dubai Tram connects through Al Sufouh Road, with the nearest Dubai Metro access via Sobha Realty (formerly DMCC) station on the Red Line. JBR and Dubai Marina are a 5–10 minute drive.
Property mix
Residential supply within DMC is limited and concentrated in a handful of mid-to-high-rise apartment buildings. Most units are apartments and studios aimed at professionals working in or around the free zone.
- •Apartments: Building 17 Residences, Shatha Tower, Aurora Tower, Al Thuraya Tower (mixed-use)
- •Studios: Available in select buildings within the cluster
- •Offices: The bulk of the built environment — low-to-mid-rise office campuses and towers occupied by media tenants
Schools
No schools sit within DMC itself. Nearby options include:
- •Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park — approx. 10-min drive, British curriculum
- •Regent International School, The Greens — approx. 10-min drive, British curriculum
- •Raffles World Academy, Umm Suqeim — approx. 15-min drive, IB curriculum
- •Dubai International Academy, Emirates Hills — approx. 10-min drive, IB curriculum
Healthcare
No major hospital sits within DMC boundaries. Nearby facilities include:
- •Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Umm Suqeim — approx. 15-min drive
- •Saudi German Hospital, Al Barsha — approx. 15-min drive
- •Aster Clinic, JLT — approx. 10-min drive
- •Emirates Hospital, Dubai Marina — approx. 10-min drive
Shopping & dining
The free zone has a solid café and casual dining scene catering to office workers, with outlets concentrated around the central plaza and waterfront. Dubai Marina Mall is a 5-minute drive and covers everyday retail, while Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha is roughly 15 minutes away for larger shopping runs. The Media City Amphitheatre hosts regular markets and events, adding a social dimension to the district.
Parks & leisure
DMC has landscaped open spaces and walkways within the free zone, though dedicated parks are limited. The Palm Jumeirah boardwalk and JBR beach are both within a 10-minute drive for outdoor activity. Dubai Marina Walk, with running tracks and a marina-front promenade, is effectively on the doorstep.

Things to consider
DMC is fundamentally an office district — residential options are limited, parking can be constrained during business hours, and the area quiets sharply after work. Buyers prioritising a community feel or green space will find better balance in adjacent Dubai Marina or JLT.
