About Dubai Internet City
Tech free zone with adjacent residential clusters serving tech professionals.
Dubai Internet City (DIC) is a free zone business district established in 1999, housing regional headquarters for global technology and media companies. It has evolved to include residential towers and retail, making it a live-work node on the western edge of New Dubai.
Location & connectivity
DIC sits directly on Sheikh Zayed Road between Al Sufouh and Barsha Heights, with the Dubai Internet City Metro Station (Red Line) on its doorstep. DIFC is roughly a 15-min drive north; Dubai Marina is 5–7 minutes south. Al Maktoum International Airport is approximately 35 minutes away, and DXB is around 25 minutes via Sheikh Zayed Road.
Property mix
Residential stock in DIC is concentrated in mid-to-high-rise apartments within a handful of mixed-use clusters. Office space dominates the overall land use.
- •Apartments: Building 11, Building 13 (DIC residential towers along the free zone perimeter)
- •Mixed-use: The Galleries (residential above retail), Arjaan by Rotana (hotel apartments)
- •Serviced apartments / hotel apartments: Arjaan by Rotana Dubai Media City, Pullman residences nearby
[VERIFY: full list of residential tower names and sub-clusters should be confirmed against current DIC master plan listings.]
Schools
No schools sit within DIC itself. Nearby options include:
- •GEMS Wellington International School — Al Sufouh, ~5-min drive, UK curriculum
- •Dubai British School Jumeirah Park — ~10-min drive, UK curriculum
- •Regent International School — The Greens, ~8-min drive, UK curriculum
- •Nord Anglia International School — Al Barsha, ~10-min drive, IB/UK curriculum
Healthcare
No major hospital is located inside DIC. Nearby facilities include:
- •Mediclinic Parkview Hospital — Al Barsha South, ~10-min drive
- •Saudi German Hospital — Al Barsha, ~12-min drive
- •Emirates Hospital Day Surgery — Dubai Marina, ~8-min drive
- •American Hospital Dubai — Oud Metha, ~20-min drive
Shopping & dining
The Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha is a 10-min drive and covers all major retail needs. Within and adjacent to DIC, the Cluster buildings have ground-floor cafes and casual dining serving the office crowd. Dubai Marina Mall and JBR are accessible in under 10 minutes for a broader dining and leisure mix.
Parks & leisure
DIC has limited dedicated green space — residents typically use the JBR Beach and Marina Walk, both under 10 minutes by car. Jumeirah Beach Residence and Bluewaters Island provide waterfront leisure options. The area is walkable to Dubai Media City's outdoor plaza, which hosts occasional events and markets.
Nearby areas
- •Dubai Media City — immediately adjacent north
- •Barsha Heights (TECOM) — adjacent east
- •Al Sufouh — west, beachside
- •Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) — ~5-min drive south
- •Dubai Marina — ~7-min drive south
Things to consider
DIC is office-heavy, so residential density is lower than Marina or JLT but weekday traffic and parking pressure can be significant during business hours. Buyers should note that freehold residential availability is limited here — many units are leasehold or hotel-apartment in structure, so title verification is essential before purchase.
